An Incredible Climax To An Awesome Week

At 4:30 pm on Friday our week came to a climax in the form of the official house dedication. All of the SEI volunteers along with our Habitat and Americorps co-workers joined with the new homeowners to dedicate their new house.

Danny and Allison are incredibly excited about their new home. Danny shared some extremely moving thoughts during the presentation. He is a Vietnam vet and shared some very thought-provoking thoughts of gratitude. Part of his quote - referring to the American forces in Vietnam: "Some gave all, all gave some and you (referring to the volunteers) gave all to this project." It was beautiful to see this 65 year old man share some very heartfelt thoughts of gratitude while crying happily and openly. I'm so grateful to Lydia Holiat who was the only member of our group who had the courage and composure to share our collective gratitude for the experience and the fact that we were able to play a role in getting the Krankey's into their beautiful new home.

As usual, the SEI team did an amazing job this week. We started with a slab and ended up with a beautiful house. We started with 33 diverse volunteers and ended up with a team stronger than most.

Thank you to all of the volunteers for their sweat and toil. Thank you to SEI for the opportunity. Thank you to Habitat for all of the great work they do. Thank you to you, our readers / supporters / co-workers / family / friends, who make it possible for us to get away for a week to do good works.

I'm signing off with tons of gratitude for everyone!!!

Robb
